1. Yesterday, some of the biggest names in the U.S. had their Twitter (TWTR) accounts hacked during an elaborate bitcoin scam. Those affected included Presidential candidate Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Kanye West, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk, who all posted something along the lines of: “Send Bitcoin and we will send back double your money”. Twitter blocked all verified accounts but appeared powerless to regain control of the situation, while investors are less than impressed with the hack, as its stock is down more than 5% pre-market. 2. Investors in Zoom (ZM) and Slack (WORK) may be worried today after tech giant Google (GOOG) revealed plans to bring its own workplace-collaboration tool to the table. Google is revamping its Gmail email app with quick access to group chats, documents, and improvements to its Meet video calling feature, including screen sharing. Zoom has been the darling of Wall Street ever since people began working from home back in February, with its stock price soaring almost 273% YTD, while Slack has long been tested by rising competition from Microsoft Teams (MSFT). 3. Despite analysts recently predicting that cinema would never be the same again, Goldman Sachs (GS) set a buy rating on IMAX (IMAX) shares, sending its stock soaring 14% on Wednesday. Analysts believe that the theater chain’s focus on blockbuster movies will see its revenue stream affected less than those establishments which focus on smaller or mid-budget flicks. During the first quarter, IMAX reported revenue that fell 56.5% to $34.9 million, while its stock remains down 37% YTD. Read more here.
